//Test EN// Located between the Gare de Lyon and the Place de la Bastille, this Viaduct shelters under its vaults the workshops and shops of more than 50 craftsmen, imposing itself as a unique showcase of crafts and design...

Before bringing together some 50 craftsmen, this 1,500m viaduct was a railway bridge well known to Parisians since it allowed millions of inhabitants of the eastern suburbs to easily reach the capital. Built in 1859, it offered direct access from Vincennes to the Bastille station, destroyed in 1984 to make way for the Opera. Dedicated to demolition, the viaduct experienced an unexpected revival thanks to the mayor of Paris, which decided to rehabilitate it under the direction of the company SEMAEST and Pierre Berger. The architect will transform the old railway line into a green promenade and restore its pink brick and freestone arches, which now house workshops for craftsmen specializing in design, decoration, fashion, jewellery... Inaugurated in 1995, this showcase of French know-how is also an ultra-dynamic place, which notably houses a trades incubator intended to promote the development of young companies around the crafts, an initiative supported by the Bettencourt Foundation.
