Each year, the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for Life Sciences awards a researcher under the age of 45 for his or her outstanding contribution to his or her field of scientific research.

Depending on the year, the prize is awarded to a researcher working in France or in another European country. Thirty-one researchers were awarded since 1997. From 2023 on, the laureate personally receives 100,000 euros.

Call for applications

In 2026, the prize will be awarded to a European researcher working in a European country, excluding France. The call for nominations, open to leading scientists selected by the Foundation, will be open from January 9 to March 9, 2026. Nominated candidates will be invited to submit their applications between March 10 and May 5, 2026.
